Disneyland Paris – Coronavirus Update
Dear Parents / Carers,
A number of pupils from schools in Wales including pupils from Aberdare Community School attended a Welsh Festival at Disneyland Paris this weekend. You may be aware of reports from various news outlets of Coronavirus in a staff member at Disneyland Paris. It is reported that the member of staff was a night worker and part of the maintenance team that did not have contact with the public guests.
We have contacted Public Health Wales who have advised no special precautions at this stage. The advice is to continue with regular hand washing and monitoring of symptoms. If you are concerned about your child use the 111 phone line. Further updates are likely to appear on the Public Health Wales website first, which can be accessed via the following link.
We will continue to receive advice through the local authority and will update our information as appropriate.

RCT School Meal Prices
Dear Parent,
Re: School Meal Prices
At a Cabinet meeting held on 20th February 2020 a decision was taken to increase the school meal prices for the new financial year 2020/2021. Therefore, I wish to advise you that the price of a meal for school pupils will increase with effect from Monday 20th April 2020. The new prices will be as follows: -
• Infants and Primary - £2.55
• Secondary - £2.80
There will be no price increase for the following two years, i.e. 2021/2022 and 2022/2023.
RCT Catering Services aims to offer a healthy nutritious meal at lunchtime and menus are available on the council’s web site. The catering staff at the school are happy to help and can provide the menus. They are also able to cater for special dietary needs supported by medical or dietician’s requests.
The food and drink provided in schools can make a positive contribution towards giving children and young people a healthy balanced diet and also encourages them to develop good eating habits.
For information, details of the Cabinet report and decision can be found via the Councils website using the link below:
