We are delighted that following fast on the success of our excellent Advanced Level results
last week, our GCSE cohort have also achieved some excellent results.
99% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) and nobody left Aberdare
Community School without gaining a qualification which is a massive achievement. There
has been an improvement in GCSE Mathematics. There have also been outstanding results
in a wide variety of subject areas including Music, Art, French, Welsh, Design Technology
and RE.
Congratulations to Jessica Marie Evans who is our top achiever with 12 A*. Jessica is an
exceptional student who is returning to the sixth form and has a very bright future ahead.
Ezara Hill gained 8A* and 3 A grades. Emily Moran gained 6A* and 5 A grades. Ffion Morris
achieved 4A* and 6 A grades. Caitlin Payne excelled with 3A* and 7 A grades. Amongst our
top performing boys were Ellis Roberts who achieved 3A*, 3 A and 6 B grades, Lewys
Harman gained 2A*, 4A and 5 B grades, Mieszko Kwatek excelled with 2 A*, 7 A and 5 B

confirm just how talented are the young people of Aberdare Community School.
Here at Aberdare Community School we also offer a wide range of vocational subjects,
including BTEC Engineering, BTEC Information Technology and BTEC Sport. We are
delighted that 100% of our BTEC pupils achieved a C grade or above, giving a large number
of pupils the grades they need to progress to both our own 6 th form and local colleges.
Mark Powell, the school’s recently appointed new head teacher, said “I would like to
congratulate everyone associated with these results. Pupils and their teachers have worked
assiduously to attain these outcomes and they deserve to be proud. I would particularly like
to call attention to the outstanding achievements of the individuals named above. They
clearly have a bright future ahead of them. Well done to all!’
We look forward to welcoming a large number of pupils back to the sixth form.
