Dear Parents & Carers,
There will be a Parents’ Evening for Year 12 and 13 pupils at Aberdare Community School on Thursday 6th December 2018, between 3:45pm & 6:30pm. Staff from Mountain Ash Comprehensive will also be present, at ACS, as part of the Cynon Valley Consortium arrangements for post-16 education. If your son or daughter is taught some of their subjects at St John the Baptist, Church in Wales High School, then appointments can be made there from 5:30 – 6:30 pm, as staff from there will be based in their school.
This will be an opportunity for you to talk to your son/daughter’s teachers to monitor their progress and receive information about the work they have completed so far during their KS5 A/S, A level or BTEC studies. An appointment system will operate as usual, to ensure there is limited waiting time. It is important for you and your son/daughter to attend. If you cannot attend but would like information, please inform the Year 12 & 13 Progress Leader, Mr P. Juliff at the school to make alternative arrangements.
As part of the Parents’ Evening representatives from ACT, Careers Wales and several Universities, as well as representatives from Coleg Y Cymoedd and Merthyr College will be present to discuss any issues you may want advice on regarding future careers options for your son/daughter. They will be available throughout the night and no appointments are needed. They will be based in the sixth form area and light refreshments will also be served in the sixth form café on the Castell first floor.
All parents/carers are urged to attend and we would appreciate your support at this important event in your son/daughter’s educational life. Thank you for your co-operation. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
