Our Students Flying High
Seren Dyton (Y11) and Garyn Kiff (Y9), along with other pupils in the school, are members of the RAF Air Cadets that meet at 254 (Aberdare) Squadron ATC, Gadlys Pit Car Park, every Monday and Thursday evening. Recently, some cadets took the opportunity to have a flying lesson at RAF ST. Athan in a Grob Tutor aeroplane, flying over Porthcawl and the surrounding area, and gaining their flying badges, known as their 'Wings'.
Opportunities for flying lessons are just one part of the offer from the RAF Air Cadets whose mission is to foster a spirit of adventure. Young people can join in other activities such as adventurous training and camps, competitive sports, drill, shooting, music and STEM projects and even gain additional BTEC qualifications not offered in schools.
