Dear Student, Parents & Guardians,
I am writing to inform you of the arrangements for the distribution of examination results and the arrangements for the start of the new term.
External examination results will be issued from 9:00am at the school on the dates below:
- A/S & A Level Results: Thursday 16th August 2018;
- GCSE – Thursday 23rd August 2018.
During this time, staff will be available to provide advice on Sixth Form options for those currently in Year 11, who will be joining Year 12 from September and to confirm post-18 pathways for those who will be leaving Year 13.
New Year 12 Pupils:
On Tuesday 4th September we would like to invite all of our new Year 12 pupils in to officially enroll for Sixth Form and to confirm their option choices. This can be any time between 9am and 12pm in the Sixth Form area.
On Wednesday 5th September, there will be an induction day for all Year 12 pupils. During the morning there will be time devoted to a pastoral session to clarify any issues that may arise with option choices. There will also be an induction to the Welsh Baccalaureate, which is a compulsory requirement for Sixth Form study. There will also be an opportunity for pupils to visit other schools which are part of the Cynon Valley Consortium. Full school uniform must be worn on this day, with the Sixth Form tie and blazer. All pupils are reminded that there should be no; skinny jeans, short skirts or trainers worn to school and that dark outer coats are required. Lessons will commence for all Year 12 pupils on Thursday 6th September.
New Year 13 Pupils:
We would like to invite Year 13 pupils to come in to enroll for their second year of study between 12pm and 2pm on Tuesday 4th September. This will be an opportunity for us to discuss results from the summer examinations and post-18 pathways.
There will be no school for Year 13 on Wednesday 5th September, as this is a Year 12 induction day.
All of Year 13 will be attending Aberystwyth University on Thursday 6th September, to help prepare them for the Individual Project element of their Welsh Baccalaureate. There will be further details of this to follow.
Year 13 lessons will officially recommence on Monday 10th September.
