From September 2018 Rhondda Cynon Taf Council will introduce an enforcement vehicle to ensure motorists are parking considerately across the County Borough – and one of its primary focuses will be increasing safety outside of schools.
The new Parking Enforcement Vehicle will enforce traffic restrictions outside of school gates, at bus stops and on pedestrian crossings. If vehicles are found to be parking unlawfully they could be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) of up to £70.
The enforcement vehicle will be a visible presence in local communities to deter dangerous parking, and enforce parking restrictions where necessary. It will contain a mobile camera to collect evidence of unlawful parking, with PCNs being issued to offending motorists via post.
Tackling dangerous parking outside of schools will be a priority issue for the enforcement vehicle – and it will be able to target known areas where poor parking is a problem during school drop-off and pick-up periods. It is hoped that by creating safer areas outside of schools, families will be encouraged to walk as a healthier, more sustainable method of travelling to school.
