We are delighted that following fast on the success of our excellent Advanced Level results last week, our GCSE cohort have also achieved some excellent results.
97% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) and nobody left Aberdare Community School without gaining a qualification which is a massive achievement. There has been an improvement in GCSE English and the number of pupils achieving 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics has also risen. There have also been outstanding results in a wide variety of subject areas including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Welsh and ICT.
Congratulations to Fatima Hameed who is our top achiever with 11 A*. Fatima is an exceptional student who has a very bright future ahead. Sally Bishop gained 9 A* and 2 A grades. Annabelle Dennis gained 8A* and 3 A grades. Jordan Ryder achieved 4A* and 8 A grades. Hannah Chi excelled with 4A* and 7 A grades. These outstanding results confirm just how talented the young people of Aberdare Community School are.
Here at Aberdare Community School we also offer a wide range of vocational subjects, including BTEC Engineering, BTEC Information Technology and BTEC Sport. We are delighted that 100% of our BTEC pupils achieved a C grade or above, giving a large number of pupils the grades they need to progress to both our own 6th form and local colleges.
Headteacher, Mark Powell, has said “I would like to congratulate everyone associated with these results. Pupils and their teachers have worked assiduously to attain these outcomes and they deserve to be proud. I would particularly like to call attention to the outstanding achievements of the individuals named above. They clearly have a bright future ahead of them. Well done to all!’
We look forward to welcoming a large number of pupils back to the sixth form.
